Interviewer – Tell us a little about yourself.

Gabriel Kalembo—I was born and raised in Zambia, where soccer was more than a sport—it was a way of life. I pursued my passion academically and professionally, earning a CAF coaching certification and gaining experience as a professional player. My coaching journey has taken me across Zambia, Germany, the UK, and the United States, where I have worked with diverse teams and players. My family has always been a strong pillar of support, encouraging me to follow my dreams and give back to the community.

Interviewer – Please tell us a little about your journey as a soccer coach and entrepreneur.

Gabriel Kalembo— My journey began as a player, but I soon realized my true calling was coaching and mentoring the next generation of athletes. I founded RMG Futball Academy to create a structured environment where young players can develop their skills and discipline. Building the academy required combining my coaching expertise with entrepreneurial skills to ensure sustainability and growth.

Interviewer – Brief us about RMG Futball Academy, its specialization, and its programs.

Gabriel Kalembo—RMG Futball Academy focuses on developing young players into well-rounded athletes. We offer training programs tailored to skill levels, from beginners to advanced players. Our academy specializes in technical skills, tactical understanding, physical fitness, and mental resilience. We also emphasize teamwork, discipline, and academic excellence to ensure our players thrive on and off the field.

Interviewer – What is your biggest unique strength in coaching and player development?

Gabriel Kalembo – My ability to connect with players and understand their individual needs is my biggest strength. Interviewer – What inspired you to establish RMG Futball Academy and focus on player development?

Gabriel Kalembo –  The untapped potential inspired me in young players, particularly in underserved communities. I wanted to create a platform where talent could flourish with the proper guidance and resources. Player development is more than just soccer teaching life skills and fostering confidence.

Interviewer – What was your mission and vision when you started your academy?

Gabriel Kalembo – My mission was to create opportunities for young players to excel in soccer and life. The vision has continually been to establish a world-class academy that nurtures talent and produces disciplined, skilled, and well-rounded individuals who can impact the field on and off.

Interviewer – What is your leadership philosophy when it comes to coaching and mentoring players?

Gabriel Kalembo – My leadership philosophy is rooted in empowerment and accountability. I encourage players to take ownership of their growth while providing the guidance they need to succeed. I believe in leading by example, instilling discipline, and fostering a culture of respect and teamwork.

Gabriel Kalembo –  Our long-term goals include expanding the academy’s reach to more regions, building partnerships with professional clubs, and developing programs that integrate technology into training. Interviewer – What inspired you to pursue a career in soccer coaching after your professional playing days?

Gabriel Kalembo – My playing days taught me the transformative power of soccer, and I wanted to pass that on to the next generation. Coaching allows me to combine my passion for the game with my desire to mentor and shape young athletes into champions.

Interviewer – What have been some of your setbacks, and how did you overcome them?

Gabriel Kalembo – One of the most significant setbacks was securing resources and facilities when starting the academy. I overcame this by focusing on building strong partnerships and being resourceful with what we had. Every challenge taught me the value of persistence and adaptability.
